Retrofitting a remote for the central locking

Hey guys

My Mk2 LX Mondeo has central locking but is not remote.

I've retrofitted a complete central locking kit in the past to other cars without much bother.

Basically I think the way to add a remote to this car would be to get one from a universal kit then wire the output signal from the remote's receiver into the central locking wiring in the Mondeo.

Does anybody know which 2 wires in the Mk2 would be for lock and unlock? I'd imagine I could use the loom inside either front door...

You need to work out which system your car has because at that age it could be either one. Early cars have Infra-red locking(They have a little black plastic eye in the front two door handles) and the later ones have Radio frequency locking.(No glass eye.)

If you have the door ajar switches/plugers in the door catches on the B pillars you have the RF system, if you have no plunger/switch in the door catch then you have the IR system
