Mondeo 2008 Ghia Bluetooth Help

Hi,

I am new to this forum as I have recently re-joined the ford club.

I have purchased a Mondeo Mk4 2008 Ghia. I am very happy with the car as a whole, however the car does not have bluetooth fitted. The stereo is the Sony (multichanger and mp3, firmware 04-05-02)

I have purchased the following module as an ebay package from a breakers to fit.
* CS7T-14D212-AB
* Retro fit harness with usb connection and aux connection.

Reading about all the different modules available I am now a bit confused on if this module is up for the job. I am aware that I would need to also purchase a mic, there is a grid by the glasses case where I believe it would be installed but am yet to fully dismantle and have a rummage (this is planned to be this weekends project).

Could it be possible that the mic is already installed just not a module? Reason I ask is that the car was a company vehicle before my purchase and it seems odd that it would not have BT installed. I have checked with the dealer and it was not factory fitted at new.

I do not intend on installing the VC or changing the indicator stalk. I want bluetooth and if I can USB too.

There does seem to be many diagrams available but to start with I need to know if I have compatible equipment to my car.

If it helps I am able to do a HU swap with my fathers car for the Sony DAB radio.

Hope you can help and thanks in advance for any assistance.

On dismantling and examining the dash...
I have the mic plug behind the interior light, which I have now connected my mic to. However, I don't seem to have the other end of this mic lead behind the glove compartment.
There is no wiring harness for the module behind the glove compartment, so I will need to install a harness between the module and stereo.

I currently have a harness much the same as the one included in this listing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121005940601?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

However, the end of the plug that would connect to the stereo does not seem to be a compatible fit to the back of my stereo.

Do I need an additional adapter? Does one exist? Any ideas where the dash end of the mic cable is situated? I have read that it is wired directly to stereo's plug?

Has anyone else experienced similar head scratching situations with attempting the BT retro fit?

I have a 2008 Mondeo Ghia with Sony CD (mp3).

Help anyone?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ryan, i can partly help you but, i too am stuck with different issues. The mic uses one wire and audio ground, there is only one wire to the head unit. Have you found the main connector, 54 pin same as your new loom. If it fitted it will be right up behind the dash next to the air bag.It will be covered in foam and there is also a yellow plug in the same location. The second connector is right next to the bonnet release, pull back the carpet and it should have wires both sides, these are the mic wires. Follow the loom back along towards the centre console, tucked right up there will be a grey plug. This is were the jumper wire plug should be. Some cars have it fitted, mine was just an empty plug. I happen to have one spare as i ended up buying two!. I have found a good site which explains more but i'm stumped with the change in mic wiring and can't do the aux mod because i can't find the correct size pins for the plug.

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the response.
What has baffled me is I have the mic cable t the light but do not have anyother other cables installed and the stereo end of the new harness does not fit the back of the stereo. Feel I must need somthing else, don't really want to cut into the existing wires if I can help it.
I am not planning on installing VC.
I already have a functioning aux socket in the glove compartment.

The loom from the module a should plug into the back of the stereo is that correct?
I was thinking of maybe getting a retrofit harness for let's say a parrot kit and adapting it for my module harness to be able to plug into, would mean a bit of cut and crimping but avoiding cutting the cars wiring?

Can anyone else advise? As I am baffled as to why I have one end of the mic cable but 1. Can't find the other end and 2. Have no additional bt cabling stowed away behind the glove box.

Again thanks in advance.

The system uses audio ground. ie the second wire is in a loop with the other grounds. If you continunity test the wires at the mic end with the aux wires they are on the same circcuit. On mine it ends as a orange and grey wire, Check the quad lock connector diagram. it took me awhile to get my head around it. Im guessing that you will have most of the loom fitted you just havent found it yet! As for the usb side of things, i havent looked in to that. I also had the same idea about a parrot harness. Is there a part number on the additional loom?

Ryan, just looked at the ebay picture. 1. the multi plug and mini usb go to the bt module. 2. The second plug(square with 8 pins) looks like it should go the "jumper" plug that i was talking about. The 3 plug l shaped... i dont know! looks like it should be mic poss?. I bet you if you hunted around you would fing that plug somewhere!!. looks like i could do with looking at that loom myself, i need to know how its wired!!
