HI ALL,
my heater control knob has become spongy/springy i.e you turn it one way and it has opposite resistance. AND the bloody heater does not work at all.V colD!!!
please help guys

Do you mean the temperature control knob? Usual problem is that the temp control lever has started to seize up and the cable that tries to control it kinks and wont move the lever so the kinked cable forces the knob back round, cure is to renew the cable and/or free off the temperature control lever.

My Heaters also blowing cold air.......Brrrrr!!!!
Sounds identical problem to mine, I'd read somewhere that the control 'flaps' got stuck, unfortunately I have no idea where these are and how to get to them. I've tried removing my heater control panel today, nightmare, I'm a bit lost as how to get to everything, girls......!!!!!

you were right!how do you change the heater cable?
The cable isnt the root of the problem its the control lever up in the drivers side footwell, reach up on the centre console side and you will feel the cable going to the lever, give the lever a good spray with wd40 and work it back and forward, if this does no good then its siezed internally and theres not much you can do other than fit a new cable and operate the temperatre dial very slowlt to 'coax' the lever to move, if you try and force it too much you will just kink it again.

cheers i did try this but the cable seems to dissapear behind the heater matrix(?) and seems inaccessable. Will have another look!

Brilliant, Haynes manual was just about to get me to remove the radio, heater controls etc but I read this and found the problem is exactly as described above, thanks for saving me a load of hassle, I'll order a new cable before I remove the control panel then do the whole job at once.
