My Mk3 1.6Tdci (2014) has deveoped the dreaded sticking clutch pedal problem. The clutch appears to work properly, but the pedal does not return fully - you can usually flick it up with the edge of your foot, or we have resorted to using a piece of string!
It's also intermittent - sometimes it stays down, other times it hesitates and then returns, sometimes it works as normal.
I had a look round the pedal; there is a coil spring in a white or cream plastic housing. This appears to be OK, with no signs of being broken, but can it wear?
Anyway I resorted to taking the car to a local garage and they changed the master cylinder. Unfortunately the problem is still there, although not as bad as it was. So I'm not sure what to do next - they were talking about the next step being the slave cylinder or one of the clutch components. You need to split the gearbox off to get at these, so it sounds expensive.
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers, Lance
