Afternoon all,

 

After some help if possible, I have a 2011 (61 plate) mondeo ecoboost 240 bhp, but have a small crack in the rocker cover.

 

Really struggling to find a new rocker cover in the UK, part number is BB5E-6K-271-A

 

Ordered one from a well known parts company using reg number, checked model etc, waited 2 weeks for delivery, was being fittedtoday, only to discover it wasn't the right part, slight difference one end in shape, and now can't locate the correct part.

 

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Heads differ upto May 2011 and from May 2011.  Check your cars build date.

 

And to cloud that there appears to be 4 head covers

03/10 to 09/10

09/10 to 05/11

05/11 to 05/14

05/14 to 12/14

Check your build date, not the date registered.

I have gone through Catcar and agree with Purple

Catcar ref number is 6582 = 3 part numbers in total, 2 litre Ecoboost. Ford Pt Numbers are

5174087 up to 10th May 2011

5209776 10th May 2011 to May 2014 

 

Don't forget these are build dates, NOT 1st registration date

 

If you are unable to source your build date send a PM with your reg number to either myself or Purple

 

Also, if you put your VIN number into here it should, repeat should, only give you parts applicable to your vehicle

Hammy, that part number you quote seems to be one for Landrover models?? BB5E-6K-271-A

The build date established is 23/09/2011 which, according to Catcar means the cover part number is 5209776

 

I have tried via google to see what Ford part number BB5E-6K-271-A crosses over too but no luck - does anybody have any suggestions 

 

More Info - the embossed number on the cover removed from the Mondeo is actually BB5E-6K-271-A

After doing a bit more on google, found a bit more info

It is established the old cover has part number embossed on it BB5E-6K-271-A put thi number into e bay and you get

See the over on the left, has part number LR038319

So BB5E-6K-271-A (the old cover) equals LR038319

Google comes up with this https://indonesian.a...0813370750.html

which shows/suggests that LR038319 (BB5E-6K-271-A) also = 5209776

Catcar says the correct part number is 5209776 for the build date.

So my conclusion is that the replacement part you received is not a 5209776

If I am wrong please don't kill me!!

If you send me your reg/VIN I’ll price one up for you. I have a broken EcoBoost engine which may also fit.

Slight update.

 

Now ordered part with engineering/part number BB5E-6K-271-AH, not sure what difference the 'H' makes, is on the old one, but looks spot on, so fingers crossed. Purchased from ebay and reckons it will fit.
