Hi
My cars on its way to its 10yr old birthday. It's an ecoboost 1.6.
Is this an expensive job as it's a wet belt?
Do we recommend water pump too?
Will any independents tackle this or dealer only?

Hi,

I have the 1.6 ecoboost petrol and I got the timming belt and water pump done for £380 here in Edinburgh by independent dealer. I actually had a couple cheaper quotes but went for the middle quote and my gut feeling.

My advice would be go into independent dealers and get a quote. That way you can see what the garage is like and speak to an actual mechanic. I would also check online reviews. Just remember one bad review doesn't mean that garage are cowboys. Go on average rating.

Always get the water pump done at the same time. Thats the advice I got from the fine people on here.
