Hello all,

This has me stumped.

Hand-brake warning light on all the time. Was intermittent at first.

New pads, discs, hubs and ABS sensor. Pads are not the wearing-thin-to-connector-wire type.

ABS light not on.

New hand brake switch (5v from switch to chassis).

12v at float switch connector plug to reservoir.

Replaced reservoir anyway in case it was a dodgy float switch.

No leaks, reservoir holding steady at full.

Brake light bulbs working.

Think master cylinder is ok as pedal firm when car is off and gives a little when turned on.

No fault codes for what that's worth.

Can't find a wiring diagram anywhere.

Brake pedal has more travel than I'd like but I guess I need to bleed the system.....next job. That'd hardly affect hand-brake warning light though.

Thanks in advance.

Had something similar on my first car a MK1 fiesta. I can't remember the exact details but it was to do with brake fluid leaking into the servo. I'm afraid j can't remember how the traced it but the brake servo was changed and the problem was sorted.

Thanks for that. Have a spare master cylinder, may switch that out in case there is a servo leak. Hope it's not a module or dashboard thing 😓.

There's a wiring diagram in the Haynes manual...

Ah, I've got the red one.

In any case looked at the wiring diagram you sent, BK/RD cable seems to go directly to cluster. Removed that (very straightforward) popped in another cluster and bingo light goes off!!!!! Mileage much higher now. I read somewhere that the cluster stores the mileage and not the ECU. Anyway, it's working. Thanks for your help Nicam, saved me a painful "computer says no" trip to the dealer.
