Hello

I have a problem during the last 3 years, before this time, the car had been working excelent.

It happens when after a chage of disc and pads (both front), I noticed that the steering Wheel has a vibration when I drive on motorway (between 120-140 kms/h). This vibrations is not always the same, it changes if I turn left or right a Little. If I drive in neutral, the vibrations are still there.

I have changed the following ítems

- Wheels balanced in several garages.

- New tyres in alloy 16" (Good year)

- Another wheels balanced (Michelin, alloys Ford titanium) (balanced in 3 garages)

- Front disc and front pads 3 times (first brembo and the other 2 are TRW

- Pins caliper new (the last change)

- Front low arms (ATEC Germany)

- Front tie rods (inside are ATEC Germany, outside are FEBI)

- Front drivesahft (left was used, right was ATEC Germany; now I've changed both of them and they are General Ricambi)

- Front both hubs (FEBI)

- Front both bearings (SKF)

- Front Bush subframe (4 ítems original Ford). The one is under left door was taken damaged; I supose it came bad from factory

- Front Bush (both of stabilizer bar, original Ford)

- 4 shock (Kayaba- KYB) all of them have the upper ítems new (SKF front, FEBI rear)

- 3 mount engine (all of them are FEBI)

- New steering pump (Meyle) and oil (Liqui Moly)

- Rear disc and pads (ATE) and calipers

- New oil brakes (ATE)

Perhaps I am missing something….

When the wheels have been balanced, they only need 15 grs. maximum

I do not know, how the problem is stil there after I have changed all this ítems (since 2019)

The car was bought by my father new, without any crash. Actually clock is 150.000 kms (The problem is sonce the clock showed 100.000 kms)

Could anybody tell me what am I doing wrong??

Thank you!!!

Have you tried swapping the wheels around? If they just came off and went back on where they came from then any fault with a wheel is just going to stay put. Try putting the rear wheels on the front. If you have a full sized spare wheel, try using that too.

I had a faulty wheel on my van that was like that. I had it balanced a couple of times but it always gave vibration.

The car was bought with original rims 16" and I swaped this wheels whith old and new tires.
Now, the car has 18" original ford, balanced and I tried to sawp them.

All the swaps, have the same final, vibrations still there

I only use Michelin, good year or continental

I am looking in the forum

I have just found this topic https://talkford.com/community/topic/204113-strange-vibration/

Here, the solution was to change the lower front arms as Ford tells in its manual. I changed this items one year ago but I did not do the ford's procedure; I did not lower the subframe.

Could it be the problem? original low arms and new arms, are all of them in bad condition?

Could the problem be the beraings inside gearbox? (between driveshaft and gearbox)

I do not know.....

If you don't lower the subframe or compress the spring you need to push the

arm down further than they recommend.

The rear bush can get damaged if you push the arm too far.

Lots of variables though, does the vibration matches the engine speed or the

road speed? Does the gear selected make any difference? Foot on the clutch

make any difference or more/less noise if you brake gently but without slowing

down?

Hello, the vibrations appear when the car is been driving around 120km/h. If I put gear in neutral, the vibrations still there.
I noticed that if the vibrations are there, if I brake a little, the vibrations are worse.
Vibrations in steering wheel, only by speed, not for revs.

Vibrations at 120 kms/h are not always, and when the steering wheel is not vibrating, if I brake, all is perfect!!

Hi

I have read of owners with this problem where final solution was to replace front hubs. Somehow flange where disc and wheel seats had become distorted.

My next check would be with a dial gauge to check for distortion at front flanges and at rim of disc. You may get a similar check by raising front wheels off the ground, then create a fixed pointer just clear of wheel rim. Slowly rotate wheel around full circumference and check if there is any side to side movement at rim.

Recently, I replaced low front arms (older were from eBay, newer are from autodoc-Lemforder)

With new los front arms, the vibrations still there.

When I replace, some item, always I followed official workshop of mondeo in all terms.

What is the next step?

Thank you
