Forgive me if this is the wrong sub for this post, but just joined today.
I'm Norwegian so excuse me for any language barriers as well.
During Christmas my 2011 Mondeo estate 2.0 diesel with 140 bhp (156000 km) and automatic wouldn't start.
When I pressed the start button the screen showed a warning with engine malfunction.
I connected my cheap diagnostic reader an it gave a code related to the active grille shutter not communicating. Took the grill off an found a corroded wire which I soldered. The dtc for the active grille shutter is now gone, but the car wouldn't start.
Hooked up the reader again and the list of dtc's nearly shocked me.
I was wondering if any of you brilliant minds could give me any pointers or has experienced any of these before?
The list of dtc's follows below.
As many of them relates to the egr valve I was thinking of taking out and cleaning it, but the car is stuck in my driveway right now.
With snow and temperatures around -5 to -10 degrees I was hoping to get around it.

Did the engine crank?

Bad battery ?

The starter won't crank, just an engine malfunction message.
Tried deleting the codes, but they returned straight away.
The battery is a little over a year old and has been charged. Measured the voltage to 12,7 so it should be good.
Although the car has given a low battery message from time to time, but it has always started. I would imagine the starter at least cranking if the battery was flat?

Was the 12.7 under load though? Its possible for a battery to have a high voltage
but no reserve capacity.
Imagine a string of AAA batteries that gives 12v+, when you put a heavy load on
that the voltage will plummet. The car battery can drop too low to start or where
sensors that expect 12v+ start playing up.

No, it wasn't under any other load than ignition on and all the lights in the dash.
I will try to borrow the battery from my company car and see if it will make any difference.
The thing I was confused from the dtcs is that the egr valve is stuck open AND closed. It really doesn't make any sense.

If there's no crank and you have those error codes, do you have a test lamp? It looks like one of the grounds is missing, so potentially corroded. Test between 12V and the ground on the EGR.
