today i went back into the garage for the second time since getting the rona and i've got my seat in bits on the floor

 

REALLY long story short, it's on youtube if you want to see

 

i've removed the seat motors and runners from my 2 way electrical adjustable seat to swap over to my 8 way adjustable (it's complicated but i'm going to use the 2 way height adjustment as the front/rear frame fouls the dvd player and it won't fit) but now that i've removed the 8 metal rivets that hold the motors in place i need to find some suitable bolts to replace them with

 

i know how big the holes are i need them to go through, but they need to fit fairly snuggly, so do bolts that i need exist?

 

i need the shoulder to be maybe 8mm deep max but google doesn't help me so far as i don't know what to ask for, i can give head sizes and lengths and stuff but they also need to be rated to hold seats in place rather than just buying some bolts that won't be up to the job

A standard DIN 931 bolt has a thread length of 2d + 6mm. So an M8 x 30 bolt will have a shoulder 8mm long and 22mm of thread.

DIN 931 is a hexagon head though, not Allen key drive. If 22mm of thread is too much you could always cut it down but need to ensure you can still get a nut on afterwards.

If you get an 8.8 high tensile zinc plated bolt you should be fine.

I might be missing something obvious, but why can’t you just use rivets to replace the rivets you removed?

Because they are those rivets that are the squashed together by a big machine with the force of 500 tons type rivets

what i need are the same bolts that are used to hold the seat adjuster motors in place, but i can only find 3 per 8 way seat (or 1 per 2 way) so it's going to be a bit of an effort unless i can get the part numbers for these bolts and order them?
