Only 3yo i would give it a good charge and maybe get it tested before changing.
You unfortunately need a Stop/start capable efb or agm battery and they are not cheap
Is an example but there are some very good deals elsewhere as well who also deliver so have a shop around
Things are cheaper when you are not in a hurry.

On another thread
Halfords EFB 110 £114 has a 5 year guarantee
They will fit for an additional £25

I have used Tayna for Batteries, very good service, just remember you need an EFB or AGM for the stop start
And other members have found lower prices.elsewhere
Halfords were dearer but longer guarantee which is another consideration

Already spoken about this in another thread but in short, I ended up upgrading my battery to a larger one and it's kept my S/S and Heated Screen working ever since. I just wasn't doing long enough journeys to keep the batter above the recommended charge level to allow those features to work continuously. But certainly try charging your battery overnight first and remember that you'll need to wait for the car to read the correct charge state before everything is hunkydory. Should learn this itself overnight but I ended up forcing a BMS reset manually.
In case there are folks out there that dont know what BMS is and why it needs a reset.

Fitted one to the MK4.5 which looks very similar to that, once the air inlet
pipe is removed its very easy.
£184 fitted at home, about £100 labour? If it takes him more than 20 minutes
check they fitted everything back properly, not missed out the screws or failed
to push the pipe back into place properly.
Small 1/4" ratchet and a few basic spanners/screwdrivers and your good to go.

Feedback here guys
Thought i would try a battery re-charge first
Got an AGM capable charger for £20
charged battery in-car overnight
Did the BMS reset procedure after charge
Up and down the motorway about 20 miles
Still no Auto stop start
left on dive for about an hour
Started up took a few seconds longer than normal for the speedo etc to appear
Drove on streets for 20 mins - stop start now working OK with a below zero outside temperature
I have a cigar socket voltage display showing over 14 v now
will wait and see what happens now - fingers crossed
