Not sure if this has been asked before

 

The Auto stop/start on my 2017 MK5 titanium isn't working when  when stationary.

 

The large greyed out  A/  appears when stopping and disappears when starting to move again

but never the green A.

 

Only started happening  recently

 

could it be external temperature too cold ?

short journeys affecting the battery ?

or is it the battery itself getting worn and not allowing the stop/start due to low charge  ?

 

or all of the above  ?

 

Any ideas guys ?

Usual problem after couple of years use with the battery the S/Start does not engage.

Charge battery overnight or 24hrs and it will work again.

If you are getting the greyed out "A" it suggests the system is working but deciding there is too much going on to risk stopping.

 

 

Time of year lights heater wipers etc on and short trips is probably the cause

 

I had a brand new Corsa on hire the other week and it never stop/started

 

Even refused to respond to the remote to unlock 1st thing in the mornings.

did my best to switch it off when i  got the car - now i miss it

Take car for a long run, you might find it rejuvenates battery and system restarts.

I have been getting that on my car 15 reg,i assume it has the original battery,to be honest i dont mind it saves me switching it off with the console switch,but also have the other symptom the heated front screen not working.

 

Tried the long run trick but did not solve it,so i bought a brand new battery Ebay twisted my arm with a battery that i had got on my watchlist gave me 10% off deal so i bought it and it was delivered the day before Xmas Eve,the battery is still in the box,i have'nt even looked at it yet,im a lazy bugga.

Already spoken about this in another thread but in short, I ended up upgrading my battery to a larger one and it's kept my S/S and Heated Screen working ever since.  I just wasn't doing long enough journeys to keep the batter above the recommended charge level to allow those features to work continuously.  But certainly try charging your battery overnight first and remember that you'll need to wait for the car to read the correct charge state before everything is hunkydory.  Should learn this itself overnight but I ended up forcing a BMS reset manually.

Ford tend to factory fit a basic battery,best upgrade when renewing a battery.
