Yeah, you really need to take em to a Delphi diesel specialist to get them rig tested, usually around £15 each.
But, you can run this test to see if the pump is OK, you need a code reader that can monitor live data, and you need to set it up to monitor frp (fuel rail pressure). Disconnect the IMV on the back of the pump, and disconnect all the injectors, (I'm talking electrical connectors) then monitoring frp, crank the engine for 15-20 secs at a time, and if the pump is healthy you should see a minimum of 1000bar.
