Hoping someone can help. I have an 03 plate 2.5 v6 Mk3 that has oil around the sump. I have been advised by a mechanic that he is unsure of the gasket used and an online search brings up 2 types, a metal framed one and a rubber gasket one. Does anyone know which is the correct part? Thanks in advance.

The ford gasket is expensive £74,

Can use aftermarket gasket and or oil sump gasket paste with it.

As per above, as your car is an 03 it’s most likely to have the metal type gasket shown above.

In the event your car was made after November 03 it could have the rubber type.

It’s pretty much the case that the 5 speeds have the metal type and 6 speeds have the rubber type.

Here is a vid that shows both types.

For info, this is a later type sump from a 6 speed car, you can see the groove in the sump where the later rubber type gasket sits.
