Hi peeps,,
Got my new el cheapo calliper today off the old fleabay (speedy delivery only ordered Monday) but itโs not come with any instructions,,, am I right to believe it needs rotating to unlock the handbrake mechanism or something like that,, if so how far to wind it,, or did I just dream that this needs doing ๐๐,,,
Oh and itโs also come with 2 copper type washers,, what are they for??? where do these go??? Can get a pic of them if needed

Caliper piston should be wound back in so it will fit over the pads, push on piston and turn anti or clockwise till piston retracts back in,then half turn out so cutout on piston is in line with the pip on brake pad

Not sure what copper washers are for,
if the caliper when bolted on and caliper body is too close to disc i placed a washer
in between knuckle and carrier bolts to edge caliper away from disc.

Hi
A new caliper is assembled with piston fully retracted and ready to fit just ensure slots are aligned. Copper washers may have been included thinking flexible hose had a banjo fitting.
When I fitted a pair of new cylinder to a MK3 it took a while before one side adjusted to take up play in hand brake. Eventually alternating pumping of hand and foot brakes moved adjusting screw, taking up clearances and reset handbrake travel.

Thanks so much gents,,, maybe I did dream of something to do with unlocking something hahaha. Iโll make sure itโs fully in and turn it so everything lines up with the cut out in line with dimple thing.
