My Mk1 Focus has been erratically overheating for some time. I’ve gone through the obvious and replaced the thermostat, sensor, water Pump, radiator and yet still the Problem persists. I have no water in the oil and no loss of coolant. HELP!!!!

Hola I have something similar but not changed anything yet.  This one is 1.6 zetec se.

The car overheated but stopped as soon as the light came on.  No mixing of oil and water. No clouds of smoke coming out of the back, removed the spark plugs and they all are the same and none of the pistons seem cleaned.

Bought this https://www.machinem...ion-tester-kit/ from machine mart and but neither fit the spark plug.

Hola,

Anyone?

Strider1498 have you done a compression test?

Noticed that this engine had only 2l of oil in it, after draining the sump.  No metal bits in the oil.  Oil not changed in 2 years, so refilled with wilkos finest 5w30 semi synthetic and perfect for the ford zetec engine.

Seems the car runs fine, sitting for over 20minutes, water level fine and the fan came on.

You will find this particular Focus forum is less used now with the age of the car,

since selling my 2002 Focus 1.6 in 2016 i seem to see less on the road also i did

not encounter many problems,air-con ,battery was all original for the 16yrs i had it,

only problem was it burnt oil last 3yrs,clutch bearing whined, rear springs seatbelt

anchor points were rusty living near coast.
