Father now has a transit custom, these are well targeted by thieves this year and the problem is they're going up in value so there seems to be more thefts. We currently plan to have a tracker fitted but something extra so the vehicle won't need to be tracked because they won't be able to start it in the first place.... okay my idea, to my understanding they're starting the vans through the obd port to remove the immobiliser so my idea is to relocate the original odb to an inconspicuous place within the van and put a fake obd in its place. I'm planning on wiring the 16 pins of the fake obd directly to the battery so the moment they plug in any device it would hopefully blow it. Any thoughts suggestions welcomed

Yeah no issues doing that, extension cables are available although
you may want to hide the original cables more than that.
Lots of voltage boost converters available depending on how much voltage
you want to output and at what amperage.
https://www.ebay.co....m/193424475011 Upto 28v under £2
Want 60v and 16Amp out £5 https://www.ebay.co....tm/202936517925
Or if you want LOTS of voltage you can these in little kits you solder yourself
although probably available pre-built also. https://www.ebay.co....tm/183826267899
£2 or £3.
A good old fashioned wheel lock would be a good deterrent though, why steal a van with
a wheel lock to overcome when you have easier options.

Hi
Even direct 12v to wrong terminals should mess up a Obd tool. Especially a direct feed from battery with good cable size with large fuse to allow decent amperage. Perhaps a member may be knowledgeable into which terminals best to connect + & - to create most damage.
Just be careful with new wiring to not create a fire risk.
Plus be careful to warn dealers if having any work done on van.

Good point about dealer equipment Peter! It is booked in this month for a security update at the dealer following a recall.
If someone can enlighten me to as the +/- best to connect to with the fake obd port that would be great. The obd will be directly fed from the battery, this is also good as the battery is a nightmare to access with it being under the seat.
Obviously the fake obd itself would hopefully be a deterrent, hooking it up to blow their equipment is more so they can't then go get another van afterwards

Ben, sorry I can't find the info I had on "fake" OBD port and wiring - probably went when my wonderful days of running 4 brand new Focus 5 pots were over.
I note this on e bay, but have no feedback on it.
