I want to buy new boot-kits (outer) for my Duratec saloon/hatch 2003/2004 (I have both).

Should be easy?

No. Looking at online catalogue(s) there are about 100 permutations and no matter how you tailor the site (eg remove auto, estate, diesel) all the options are still displayed.

There are 26mm, 28mm 30mm 22.6mm snap-rings. There are hollow and solid driveshafts. there are totally conflicting descriptions.

Can anyone summarise it?

A bit like the multiple choices for shocks and now when you buy an aftermarket on it's 'one size fits all' so were all the different numbers even relevant in first place?

Even more choices than that, With or without ABS?   Speed sensor in the hub/bearing

or in the gearbox?

Assuming they have not been changed in the past then the build date should narrow it

there must be some order to it.

Like with the front wheel bearings. I thought it was one for manual and one for auto so assumed there would be 2 perhaps 3 variations for the driveshafts

I mean there is this genuine Ford one on Ebay the now for a great price but will it only fit a 2003 ST Estate with self-levelling rear suspension and a half-alcantara interior?  :kaffeetrinker_2:
