On my last not I got an advisory because the pipe that runs across the back of the CSR between the two rear silencers has a crack in it and is leaking.

cutting the pipe just after the first of the two boxes and running a straight through pipe to the other side would be a simple and easy job but will the reduced back pressure affect it?.
Has anyone ever done it?

I can live with additional noise but don't want to take a performance hit as I'm already carrying 1.5-2 adults weight in audio gear and its been neutered enough already :/

If its not too noisy it should be fine. As long as its supported properly and cannot

contact brake/fuel lines etc.

EDIT:

Assume its a 3rd box in the system and not a twin system with a link/balance pipe?

I believe its what you think, a 3 box system with two being at the very back end but the second box is just an inline box and not vented like an St, only the one on the drivers side having a vent to the atmosphere.

Ive attached an image of the type of system mine has.
