Morning all. Just signed up to the forum as I've a 70 plate Mondeo Titanium about to be delivered.

All very exciting but the chap at Allen Ford is trying to sign me up to the 0% credit agreement to take advantage of a £1500 deposit allowance. He says pay half now then make just one monthly payment then pay the rest of in one go without penalty. Seems too good to be true.

Had anyone here done that? I'm worried about getting tucked up and tied into a credit agreement for 3 years when I have the funds to buy the car outright.

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Steve

Hi, I have not dealt with the dealer you mention but I have done that twice with my excellent Ford dealer and my friend has also done it twice with same dealer.
Ours were in 2016 and 2019.
Yes it sounds stupid but it was not a con.
Once we had made one monthly instalment we settled in full, job done.
It was brilliant, on my first Mk5 fully kitted 2 litre ecoboost Titanium X I had an excellent Ford Direct deal and then another £1,500 off with the finance deal.

Of course Ford hope that some will carry on with the finance monthly payments

Oh, that's brilliant. Thank you so much for your reply. I'm going to my dealer on Friday to see the finance chap so this puts my mind at ease a bit more! I'm most grateful to you for taking the time to reply!

Hi Steve, no problem, unless anything has changed it is a genuine offer and if you can settle after one payment it is a no brainer as it actually does save you £1,500.00!!

If you don't mind please come back and let us know how you found things

Lots recommend taking the finance to get the extra discounts.

Dealer gets commission for selling finance.  He can pass some of that back to the

customer as an extra discount.  Just check how long you need to leave it before

paying it off.

Pay it too early and they may lose that commission, you could save yourself more money

and pay in full after the drive home. The dealer wont be happy though.

Just check the terms and conditions,  but its not a con it can save you money.

As above it would save you £1500 minus 1 or 2 months interest if you leave it that long.
