I'm pulling my hair out with this one - what there is of it left.

My daughter asked me to take a look at the alarm system settings on her 2008 Zetec+ Climate, as she wanted to be sure that it made a noise if someone tried to break into it.

Been into the system with Forscan, everything looks fine from there. I've tried to trigger the alarm, and have been successful in as much as I can get the hazards to flash, but still no sound.

So, logically, I suspected that perhaps there was an issue with the sounder / siren.

Right, fine, so I need to find out where it's at.

According to all sources that I have found thus far, it should be somewhere in the boot area, behind trim on the right hand side.

Now these things don't have massive boots so it's not like there are many places it can be hiding in.

Nothing. Nowhere. No traces that there's ever been any modules mounted there. No loose, unconnected plugs either.

(I did wonder if a previous owner might have removed it if there'd been a problem, rather than fixing it, as they'd done with the aircon)

I wouldn't have thought this would have been an option, and given that this is one of the final, special edition, fully loaded run out models, I would expect everything to be there.

Am I going completely mad, or am I simply looking in the wrong place.

(Incidentally, I've dismantled the interior on the drivers side from behind the drivers seat to the rear looking for this thing)

Did Ford change the spec for the alarm on the last models?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys

Peter

Thanks, though i've already seen this diagram.

I was fishing around under the dash around the fuse box yesterday and popped the GEM module out for a look.

On checking with Ford Catalogue (essentially the same as catcar but on a different site) there are a few different GEM modules depending on vehicle spec and, from what I can gather, it would appear that the module installed in my daughters Ka does not, in fact, include Anti-Theft alarm as it is 15K600B.

Apparently, it is only 15K600C part codes that include the anti-theft and maybe this is why I can't find the sounder in the boot. Are they part of the same system?

If so, we'll probably leave it, as to fit the sounder would require a whole amount of re-wiring, replacing parts of the vehicle loom

Hi

Yes there seem to be different GEM modules with and without alarms: http://www.catcar.in...TU2NDE2KzEzNQ==

Strange I assumed all Fords had some rudimentary alarm system fitted since the early 90’s.

The Ka is not listed as having a Thatcham cat 1 immoboliser and alarm but a Thatcham Cat 2 immoboliser?
