150 piece socket set case, both hinges snapped! Not really hinges are they? just part of the overall moulding. Anyone managed to cobble up a repair?

Not pretty but tabs snap close,i don't do perfection anymore.

Basically a piece of soft pliable plastic or other material layers of duct tape?

glue/screw/bolt

Try bolting the thin furniture / cabinet metal hinges

Is the Halfords advanced case? Just take it into store and they'll replace it
all my Halfords boxes have proper hinges

Pet hate of mine, boxes that do not have proper hinges. Although i have a Machine Mart

1/4" socket set which is fairly old and the hinges are holding up on that one.  (Red box)

Larger 1/2" set in a blue box had the catches go first then the hinges.

Hinges replaced with several layers of duck tape, catches replace with a small loop of

double sided velcro around the handle, works a treat.

Thing is, the cases aren't covered by the guarantee, only the contents. The hinges would have to be capable of supporting the weight of half the contents when opening and closing.(and carrying, I suppose) so can't see duct tape surviving... but worth a try...no way of bolting real hinges to the blow-moulded case, but I'll take a look... thanks for all your comments and ideas👍

Cheeky gits...just noticed there is no discount with a Halfords Trade card!!! Normally 20% off tool boxes and tools.

This should work for 10% discount...feel free to use. I was sent it by Shell for using their app. Save it to your mobile phone as they may need to scan the barcode.
