The Focus ST Forum, which is very well supported and extremely busy with helpful info does not suggest the 2 litre ecoboost does not have a good good track record.

In any event, it is just so much nicer driving a Mondeo Mk4.5 2 litre ecoboost Titanium X Sport to an earlier Mk4 2 litre non turbo petrol

My comment was based on the number of ecoboost cars on the road and how many are declared SORN each year. It suggests the percentage being declared SORN around 5+ years after new is significantly higher for these than diesels and the duratec engines. Of course many of these could be due to a crash etc.

I'm not saying the ecoboost is a bad engine or anything though, just the Duratec is much more likely to reach astronomical miles.

Somebody made a comment that you won’t find a Mk4.5 2.0 petrol Duratec HE 145. WRONG - I have one, an 11 plate Tit X estate. I recently “saved” it from a salvage auction as an unrecorded car! I took a chance & bought it as a non- runner & fixed it. Dead fuel pump. It’s only got 65k on the clock & is now averaging 39 mpg, it’s a manual of course. So there you go, bring it on ......

Hi Rob, that would be me who said that.

You have a very odd vehicle

Can you post any pics up please

Have you run it through a Ford ETIS check to see build date and spec etc

Just interested

Build date is 11th Feb 11.

its a “Ford registered“ car, it’s in Midnight Sky, and has the following options above standard:

Nav with reverse camera

Sports suspension/spoiler/18” alloys

Privacy glass

The VIN ends in a very round number, - 700, am not sure whether that has any significance at all?

It’s defo a Mk4.5, this is my 4th Mondeo. I have seen a number on eBay over the last year or so I’ve been looking, not many I admit. Does anyone know when the Duratec HE stopped becoming available? Perhaps they just used up any remaining stocks of engines. It drives very well but ain’t a performance car - the only real issue is that it’s difficult to get into 1st when cold & I suspect it needs new cables. It’s been neglected, but I’m investing time into it. I’m just about to restore the alloys and have a decent set of Michelin tyres ready to go on - so I can get rid of the rubbish that’s on there at the moment. There’s a bit of bodywork to sort - but that’s only cosmetics & I need to find/make the time to do it. I also want to fit roof rails at some point, when I’ve sourced some.

I could post a picture - but am not sure there’s much point is there?

Cheers - Rob

Thanks for the info Rob.

No, a piccy not really required.

So a few "odd" ones built in 2011 then. I was expecting the build date to be early 2010 with a late registration of 2011 (like some of the first Mondeo 2 litre ecoboost Titanium X Sports prior to facelift)

In 2011 the standard build was deffo Mk4.5 and, if petrol, it was the 2 litre ecoboost with the Getrag Powershift

Almond, you will have to keep your eyes open for one of these rare build manual Duratec HE Mk4.5s
