So after much debate and weighing up pros and cons I've taken the decision to purchase something just a little newer and more 'me' in a couple of weeks I'll be the owner of a 2009 audi a3 and will be either selling or breaking the mondeo.
The mondeo runs great but has a few knocks over the front and rear suspension, the body work is not the best and I lost a lot of love for it after it was keyed a few years back.
I could sell it as a whole but it does have some valuable parts such as recaro seats, xenon headlights and a full stainless twin exhaust but my main point in potentially breaking it is that I don't think I could have someone else driving it.
Since owning the mondeo I feel I've found myself trying to make it "sportier looking" but I've done as much as I can without digging too deep in the pocket so I feel its time to move on.
She's been a trusty work horse and I'll genuinely miss it, she's often made me smile especially since the remap and has tought me a great deal with diesel engines. Ive now owned it for 5 years and its always got me where I need to be.
So to summerise I'll be exploring different forums and I'm sure I'll still pop in from time to time to make sure everyone is behaving.
Here's to Mondy!

Know the feeling my Mondeo rear knock has reappeared after fixing front knock(spring broke)
also slight misfiring when accelerating has reared its ugly head again.

Hi
Dont become a stranger, with your experience of Ford ownership you can still help current members with advise.
Good luck with the Audi. Any ideas for the first mod?

Hi Peter,
I'll still be lurking around but been looking at factory xenon headlights with led rear lights. (I have a headlight fetish) it's already got a few little mods but I'm going to keep it to a sporty standard look. Next will be the interior, maybe some nice seats with head unit and speaker upgrades but other than that I'm really not sure. I don't know my options really I've never owned anything other than a Ford and vauxhall

Didn't want to sell it? Is the real reason you don't want a new owner to keep driving
past you and telling you what a great car it is and how little it has cost them to keep
on the road.
Been a Mondeo Man for 14 or 15 years now. Although my eyes did stray a little before
I bought the MK3 2.2 Diesel Estate some 5 years ago. Looked at Skoda Octavia's
and even Rover 75's but that car changed my mind.
Nephew has my old 2.2 now.
Faster than my 2L Diesel (140) MK4.5 and used less fuel...

Purple, I'm not too bothered about how cheap it's been to run because the audi costs £30 to tax a year 😉 £180 per year cheaper than the mondeo... Hopefully its just as quick. No doubt I'll end up with another in a few years haha

It could be that having owned and worked on your Mondy will prove useful owning an A3.
The A3 is very common where I live, they are lovely cars but seem a bit fragile. Something that is a big difference between the A3 and Mk3 Mondy imho are the design philosophies. The Mondy seems designed to an older way of doing things with big chunky parts, a little bit like the old American way of building parts to last.
As the A3 is a newer design it often surprises me at how much thinner or smaller some components are. This isn’t just an Audi thing, and is the same with VW too.
The Audi should be easy to get upgrade parts for though, and depending on the engine could be perfect for getting mapped

Always wanted an A4 but now having worked on a few Audi's and that stupid front suspension design they all have with the double pinch for the upper control arms I've decided I dont want one anymore, love the A3 and A4 looks, a few of my friends have them but that double pinch and bolt puts me right off them, the stupidest designed thing I've ever came across and we all think the Mondeo pinch bolt from hub to shock is bad.

They should not let anyone design a car until they have stripped one thats a few years old
and seen what stupid designs have been used in the past.
I think the MK3 rear calipers just needed a better seal arrangement. Plenty of cars out there
where the rear calipers are not as prone to sticking.
My MK4.5 2L diesel only £30 tax also. But i miss my 2.2..
