I'm looking at buying a 2017 C-Max and had a look at the underside. The rear wishbones and subframe are a bit rusty (pic attached).

Is this normal for a three year old car? It's only done 16,000 miles.

If your keeping the car for a long time then treat that and get it painted.

If your only keeping it a short time then its fine, let the next buyer sort it.

Thanks.

Would you expect the seller to treat it before buying, or is it considered normal wear and tear?

Normal wear and tear. I would be suspicious if they had tarted it up.

Hiding crash damage or where its been grated over speed bumps etc.

I was under the dash of a MK3 Mondeo that was under 5 years old and the bar

that ran across the car has rust on it. Never been wet in that area so the bar must

have been poorly prepped when they fitted it.
