2005 Mk3 2.5 V6 Mondeo Ghia
My father recently bought a car with a faulty starter motor (the seller was honest). He has told me he has taken the car to the garage and the mechanic fitted the "wrong size" starter motor and now there is a water leak.
He told me that he sent a friend to check the progress during the repair who overheard the mechanic say that if he tried to fit the one he was trying to fit it might "crack the water pipe." The car has since developed a water leak. When challenged, the mechanic has suggested there is nothing he can do and can only suggest my dad use some anti leak fluid and drive 30 miles.
I've suggested another garage for him to take the car to for a second opinion but until then, does any of this sound feasible?
I know this mechanic usually uses EuroCarParts and he has since sent the old unit back for the surcharge. Whether he used Euro's this time, I don't know. But the starter motor is available at ECP. Anyone know of any issues with their starter motor sizes for this vehicle?
Otherwise, it seems difficult to source this part as it is no longer manufactured by Ford. Any idea where else to get one?
I would like to get him back on the road as he works as my disabled mother's carer, he's getting on a bit himself, he isn't the best with cars (neither am I) and he could probably do without the stress at the moment.
So any help at all is really appreciated.
Thanks!
