I am doing some research to try to understand why Ford launched the Ka van in 2002 in what seemed to be competition to its Fiesta 35.
Does anyone have any info?
I believe the 35 (mk5) was withdrawn from sale at the end of 2002 and the mk6 van not launched until early 2004- is this correct?
Could the Ka van conversion have been done to fill this 12 month gap in the micro van segment? I know BT was/is a huge fleet customer for Ford so I am assuming this is why they introduced a custom off track conversion so as not to invite a competitors microvan in to BT.
This is just my conjecture- I’d love to know some facts if anyone has any!!!
Also, does anyone know the OTR price for the mk5 35 in 2002/ 2003? I’ve bought sales brochures off eBay in the hope of finding the price but none are quoted.
