Dear members,

I own a Ford Focus MK1 2004. Have owned the vehicle for 2yrs+ and only had 1 tyre changed last year.

Driver’s rear is at minimum tread whilst other 3 tyres are at 5 being just under or just over.

Ideally I’m thinking to buy a new set for the vehicle all round but not sure on which brand. I know the drivers rear needs replacing. Also, something that would last upto 10k+ miles if possible?

I’m thinking either Michelin, Continental or Good Year but not sure yet. I don’t know if it’d be worth buying CrossClimate based upon the UK weather.

What are the recommendations & please could you be detailed?

(Apologies if there is already a topic for this)

Any reasonable brand will do the job. Unless you doing trackdays with it.

Winter style tyres will generally be softer and wear more during the hotter months.

Winter was very mild here so they would have been a waste this year.

Generally you get more grip and worse fuel consumption and more wear or less grip

and better fuel consumption and less wear.

What works for you?

I like Khumo's, they grip well, but a mid range price so tend not to last that long.

Smaller engined Focus driven gently even a budget tyre could get 20k miles. Larger engined

car driven with some enthusiasm then you maybe lucky to get 8k miles.

So I wont be using the car for any kind of track days.

With the winter tyres, they're more of for snow/ice conditions (in my opinion). I pretty much have budget tyres on my car but im looking something that are long lasting & good for reasonable high speeds on the motorway with possibly the family in the car & good fuel consumption.

Im more of looking for a set of tyres that'll work good for dry/wet conditions.

Fiesta 2014 came with Continental contact 2, B grade grip, front tyres lasted 21k miles

after 5yrs still have the rear tyres on.Tyre guy say they are acrylic rubber so harder.

Now have Dunlop blue response A-grip on front, softer rubber might not last as long.

Have Goodyear efficient grip A-grip on mondeo, the front tyres only lasts 10k,good grip softer rubber.

Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost 2014
