I have a 2015 Focus 1.5 Titanium X and it has adaptive lights on it. A warning has just come up on the dash saying headlamp malfunction service required and I've noticed that when the lights come on and try to centralise the drivers one just ends up pointing down and right and also the full beam on that side doesn't work only dipped lights.

Ive had it on a fault reader and its come up as right headlamp light distribution actuator

I phoned the Ford garage and he just said that I need a new headlamp theres nothing I can do

Any ideas

No experience with adaptive lights but;

what sort of fault reader are you using, an OBD2 dongle with (say) Forscan may give a more detailed fault description.

Have you tried taking the light out and checking for damage or corrosion on the cable & connector?

Does any of this help from the Mk5 Mondeo Electrical Section

https://talkford.com...lure-roll-call/

Also look at other threads in the same Electrical Section

Add/Edit There are quite a number of threads/complaints about adaptive headlights on the FocusSTOC forum so it is a known problem

(You need to be have paid membership fee to get technical stuff off their site)

Can be the wiring but usually require a light unit - main dealer approx £850
