V8 Mustang - How Loud Is It?

Hello,

Are there any owners of the five liter V8 Mustang around here? Or has anyone ever driven or been driven in one over a longer period of time? I'm curious as to how suitable it is (or isn't) for longer drives, and by this I mostly mean the noise. Can you drive it for, say, six hundred miles and arrive at the destination as fresh and calm as you would after a drive in a Mondeo? Or will the loud V8 growl annoy and tire the hell out of you, making you feel like your brain were liquefying and leaking through your ears, and making you swear you'll pick a different car next time?

Can you have a normal conversation with your passenger at 85 mph?

I'm sure the V8 is absolutely marvellous when you're in the mood. But will it drive you mad when you're not? Will your neighbours hear you from three blocks away when you come home in the evening?

Thank you.

Bit of a roar on start up,then settles to the usual v8 burble. Not at all intrusive in the cabin. And certainly not tiring on long runs.
The latest models have 4 exhaust modes, quiet, normal, sport, and track.

Thank you, that's what I was hoping to hear. :)

I know it has several exhaust modes, I just don't know what they mean in reality, i.e. how quiet the 'quiet' mode actually is. :)

I wouldn't mind a roar on start-up (in fact I'd love that) as long as it's just temporary and settles to a non-intrusive burble soon after that. I would like not to wake the whole neighbourhood up when I leave or arrive home.

I decided to take the risk. I've just orderd one. B)

The next seven months are going to be awfully long.
Good man - you will not be disappointed !

At 80mph with exhaust in quiet it is no different to my Mondeo - slightly more tyre noise perhaps. With the exhaust in full on loud mode it is LOUD and INCREDIBLE ! I have mine set to good neighbour mode 24/7 which does away with the startup roar. You can have it start up quietly at certain times of the day if you want.

I hope you ordered Magneride - transforms the car and it is so comfortable in normal mode.

If you want to know any more fire away. also check out the forums at https://www.mustang6g.com/

You can follow your car build online via ETIS and also using the following link for you 'window sticker' https://researchmaniacs.com/VIN-Number-Lookup/WindowSticker/Ford.html Because it is made in the US it is easier to track the build.

You will need your VIN. Your dealer will get a partial VIN which can be completed using the advice at Mustang6g which you can then track the build. Your dealer will get the partial VIN on ETIS about a month after order.

Thanks, Greg.

I didn't order the Magneride, because it was a two thousand euros option, and the GT is already expensive as it is. They're asking 1300 euros for the colour alone. :(

Besides, when I test drove a Mustang with the standard suspension I found it surprisingly comfortable. Admittedly, it was a 2.3 Ecoboost, not a GT, but I think the suspension is the same. At least I hope it is.

I did add an optional package which contains some comfort things, like heated/cooled seats, Bang&Olufsen 12-speaker sound system, and navigation (Sync 3 itself is included in the base price, but the navigation is optional).

The only thing I'm really going to miss is the heated windscreen. I've had it for the past ten years and have gotten so used to it that I can hardly imagine life without it. :(
