2.2 TDCi MK4 Titanium X Sport - Injector leak?

Hi Everyone,

I am new here so hopefully I am doing it right.

I love my 2009 MK4 Mondeo, however since i got it (at 120k miles, and now at 126k) it's had a strange little pool of fuel/oil around injector 4. Initially it smelled of diesel in the car. I then took it to a local garage and they said it was the copper injector seals and had them all replaced. The smell disappeared however a couple of days later the little pool was back and has been there ever since. No issues with performance and no more smell since then (few months ago now) and still driving with it.

There were also issues with starting in the morning sometimes which I linked to this (possibly air getting in the fuel system). One morning I just killed the battery as it wouldn't start. It turned out the battery was for replacement too - which I did and haven't had problems with starting since then, however some mornings the engine cranks a few more times then usual until it starts, but that is hit and miss. Could it be/ have been related to the injector.

I went back to the garage and asked for repair due to the failed first attempt however they assured me they have replaced the seals properly and it could be the injector itself or some of the other seals in it... They suggested injector repair or refurb...

Another garage suggested it could be the fuel line leaking. Nobody could really diagnose it fully so far.

The only other thing I have noticed which may be related is on long journeys, only while on cruise control sometimes very rarely the car will make a couple of tiny stutters and carry on, like a tap on the break a couple of taps back to back (that's how it feels only)

Can anyone suggest what I should do, has anyone had a similar issue?

The car drives and runs perfectly in any case however this issue worries me as it could go bad I suppose...

I have uploaded a photo - you can see the leak in the middle of the photo. I had to brighten the photo...

Thanks in advance!!!
