2.2TDCI Max speed?

Hello guys,

I watched many videos on YouTube that displays the max speeds of the 2.2TDCI is around 230km/h.

I tested my Mondeo several times with the old and new injectors and she barely hit 200... after 190km/h is slow as....

I checked the compression of every cylinder and it's ok, 24 bar per cylinder on cold engine and 24.5 on hot engine.

The injectors are new... the leak of test is ok..

I changed the o-rings on intlet manifold and the hole to EGR valve. I removed the EGR valve with Sport pipe, the inlet manifold now is clean like an ass of a baby...

The car has power, pulling pretty good, but what about the top speeds, why is so low?

What's can be the problem?

Because the road you used was not perfectly level or long enough. Often they use

a banked circuit for top speed trials.

How optimistic is their speedo and how accurate is yours?

I think 218km/h was more like it rather than 230km/h. Some maybe faster than others but

too many variables. Air pressure on the day, wind speed, tyre pressures, tyre brand... etc.

EGR is not restrictive so the sport pipe will have gained virtually nothing over a £3

blanking plate.

Yes, the EGR is restrictive, look at intake manifold in the attached picture.

But you are right regarding the difference of the circumstances...

purple means a clean egr thats been blanked is not restrictive compared to the delete kit.

obviously with the egr working like it should it puts all that crap into the inlet manifold so its better all being cleaned then blanked or deleted and no more crap builds up like that.

Just a waste of money in my opinion. A £3 or less blanking plate will do the same job.

A clean EGR is not restrictive.
