Hi Guys

 

hope you can help i have a whining nosie coming from my 97 1.8 ford escort ghia you can hear it slighly whilst idle it is most audible when i press down the clutch pedal any idea what this might be i have been told by my nieghbour its the clutch release bearing but wouldnt the noise go away when you bring the clutch pedal back up if this was the case

Not always, depends on the wear. The noise would typically change when you put

your foot all the way down on the clutch because its putting the bearing under full

load.

 

Its possible it still whines with the foot on or off the pedal though. Listen to the pitch

change when putting your foot on the pedal.
