ok help needed here, my mk6 escort 55 diesel van (non turbo) snapped the timing belt a few weeks back, bought a second hand engine for it as it was cheap , guy said it was a good runner, long story short I have put a aftermarket pump solenoid in it to bypass the pats system I have power going to it, the glow plugs have power going to them but I cant get the starter to turn over, it will spin over if I cross the contacts with a screwdriver, there is no power going down the wire to the starter solenoid, the security light flashes on the dash but it flashes that fast I cant count the flashes, is the starter connected to the pats system, don't really want to swap the injection pump if there is a simple bypass, I have already removed the security cover on the pump .

I thought the pumps were coded not just the solenoid?

Yes the starter is enabled only after the correct key is used to start the car, fitting your

old pump should cure the problem.

Do the recon pumps come blank and code themselves into the system on first starting?
