Hi all, has anyone come across an odd knocking / splashing sound from fuel tank area on a MK5 Mondeo. On accelerating braking or going over bump?

I have an mk5 and no, I haven't experienced it.
Seems to me that your tank is not fitted in his place correctly. Just a thought.
Could be completely wrong....

Yes, it has been discussed on another thread on this site before.
It is "normal" (ie, not fixable), but so is the noise apparent on many other manufacturers vehicle.
just depends on where the fuel level is in the tank for a short time, not really a problem. Some notice it, some don't

When you say it is NOT fixable, It has only just started making the noise and I have had it one year which suggests it is something that has come loose.

Ok, "that" could be a different thing then.
Suggest take it into a dealer when you have the right amount of fuel in so it is making the noise.
Please let us know how you get on, thanks

I always hear the fuel slapping about inside the tank for around a week after filling up to the brim. Never heard it in other cars that I can recall, normally have music playing though so that helps!

I notice it, first time a few weeks ago, wasnt sure what it was then it went away. Then back again straight after filling up.
Noticed it when in traffic in 1st gear speeding up and slowing down would each time get thumping noise when speeding up.
