They are now doing a ecu remap for both the 150 and the 180ps engines that takes them to over 200ps and up to a extra 100nm of torque http://www.superchip...61&variant=3251 I bet that'll make the drive interesting. Also comes as the Bluefin version.

that's a decent increase. I've never had a car chipped before, so am a little wary - but know others do it.

Mind you that extra torque would probably just end up in front wheel spinning - mine is already a nightmare with the Michelins down to half tread depth really struggling for grip.

......dont get me started on its performance in the snow last week, actually got stuck on a hill that wasn't particularly steep. Sat their quite embaressed as everyone else sailed past me. Mind you every evolution of the Mondeo has had wider tyres and I guess that doesn't help

Yup, fat tyres and torque, however I thought that a diesel is torque limited in the lower gears to prevent damage to the transmission. I had my 2.0l mk4 diesel remapped and it transformed the engine. I'd hate to drive my a3 in the snow as even with the 'lowly' 1.4 engine it is far too easy to induce wheel spin in the wet, far easier than it was in my remapped 1.6 ecoboost focus.
However with those increases it will make life more interesting on the mk5 mondeo.

I just fitted a tuning box onto my 150 , I've driven 300 miles in it since and it is definitely more powerful with better high gear pull and the mpg is better so smiles all round

Whose tuning box did you use and what were their quoted ps and torque figures?

After doing about 1000 miles with it fitted, mostly motorway and easy on the throttle driving , cruise control mainly at 70 It's showing 54 mpg which is fab considering it's 4x4

Sounds good but watch your dmf, a warranty comes with the superchips bluefin which is probably why they run the map at a safer output...

I had a 140ps diesel in a mk4 mondeo up to about 170ps and didn't have a problem, however dmf's are a weakness it seems...
