I had them type of alloys on my Fiesta 1.3 supersport 1981 (reg. VAG818W)

which was similar lesser model to the XR2 at the time.

Have you any other plates anywhere, maybe on bulkhead or inner wing.

Difficult to tell from the pics. more and better interior pics may provide more answers. judging it from what i remember of the UK spec cars, it looks like a base 1.1 popular/popular plus/L spec car with the RS catalogue steering wheel and the exterior made to look like an S or XR2. any of the sporty models would have had a rev counter in the dash where the fuel guage/temp guage is in that dash, and the smaller fuel/temp guage where the gearstick pattern is displayed on the dash. does the registration document not give any clues?

Sticking your VIN number into a few on-line VIN decoders brings up a much newer car. Are you sure it's the genuine original VIN plate?

the online vin decoders discard one of the digits, thinking its an error, hence bringing up a newer fiesta (2011 from memory)

that vin is definitely a fiesta vin, but the online decoders dont seem to go back beyond 1985ish
