Considering the awesome power remappers in the USA have extracted from the 2.3 Ecoboost twin turbo engine in the Mustang, what is the potential for the twin turbo diesel in the Mondeo/ S Max/ Galaxy which at fhe moment is rated at a humble 210 bhp and 450 nm of torque.

Just to add Renault offer their new Espace with a 1.6 twin turbo diesel rated at 160 bhp and 380 nm, with better emissions than the single turbo models.

.

The Mustang isn't twin turbo, it has just the one turbo, which is twin scroll.

Sorry yes, the Mustang has a twin scroll turbocharger, where the new 210 bhp diesel has twin sequential turbos.

The best option is a Variable Geometry Turbo for four cylinder engines, as it has fhe benefits of twin sequential turbos without the cost, weight and complexity

Should be very good for mapping that twin turbo diesel.  Lets see normally you would expect around 30 percent more power from a turbo diesel   207+30% would be about 269.1bhp add the fact of the extra turbo say 15% and would say the max would be about 290bph max..... that in a mondeo would god damn awsome!

Yes Gaskell. Just looking at the figures.

We are gunning for the new Volkswagen bi-turbo 2.0 which is rated at 237bhp and 500 nm of torque.

This compares to the new Mondeo twin sequential turbo rated at 207bhp and 450 nm / 332llbs of torque

The old 2.2 tdci was rated at 197 bhp and 420nm of torque. Superchips boost this to 227bhp and 505nm with a Bluefin.

So it is entirely feasible that Superchips might be able to extract a similar percentage of gain as they managed with the old 2.2 tdci, which should at least match the VW on BHP, but forque could go to 505nm. Quite a lot just for the front wheels.
