has anyone read any reviews on the lower powered lump?

I know most on here are looking for even more power (*grunts in a Tim Allan tool Time manner*)....... but to be honest for the running i'm doing over back roads mostly I find my current 140PS more than sufficent.

The 180PS engine seems to be the one everyone has test driven and it was noted as lacking oomph for a car supposedly with that power rating.

There are also 4 insurance groups between the 150 and the 180 - which really just costs you more per month for very little gain.

thoughts?

I have test driven two 150PS Mondeo's, an estate and a hatch, both with manual gearboxes. I currently have a 140PS and the new one felt marginally quicker so if you are happy with yours I'd be confident the 150 will do the job.

Is the 150ps significantly more economical than the 180ps, as apparently there isn't much in it between the 140 and 163 bhp engines on the Mk4 Mondeo?

Identical CO2 and economy, 115g and 4.4l/100km (53.5mpg) for 150 & 180.

Great questions and answers: I was thinking the same things.

The choice for me is

150PS ECONetic @ 107 g/km

180PS @ 115 g/km

The other plus with the 150 being that you get sports suspension thrown in as part of ECONetic

WOW!  I just looked at the BIK for the next few years.  The government has split the bands into segments of 5 now, which means that tiny 8 g/km equates to a 2% difference between the engines!

Look here

So, if I got the 150PS in Mar 2015, I start at 14% BIK, end at 22%

180PS equates to starting at 16%, ending at 24%

Probably the 180 bhp engine is better matched to Powershift?

Could you not get the ECO version of the 180?
