I thought I'd start a diary thread for my new mk4 Mondeo Titanium X.   I've always struggled to keep my cars as they came from the factory so a mod by mod account is always good to look back upon.

My plans for the car are quite limited, partly due to spending the last 10 years modifying a MK2 which resides in my garage for sunny days and secondly the fact the MK4 is such a nice car 'out of the box'.

When searching for cars I knew this car had to be practical and although fuel isn't a big issue I couldn't justify the 2.5t for everyday commuting.  Accepting this fact I don't plan to plough money into the performance side of the car as pound per bhp its not worth it.  Any mods made will be for creature comforts and asthetics.

The best place to start is a few pics of the car as purchased:

Once the car was home it was time to detail the car and take it from garage 'clean' to my OCD level of clean.  Most of the work revolved around removing contaminants and 5 years of road tar.

The leather gear gaitor had worn around the top so that was replaced. The wheels were removed and the inner rim cleaned / polished. The ford centres had started to delaminate so I replaced all 4 and finally painted the calipers silver to clean up the overall look.

All quite cheap and simple changes, but make a great overall impression.

Tonic metallic? Looks well bud.

I like the half leather half alcantara seats.

TDCi? What engine? I'm guessing lack of 2.0 on passenger wing means it's a 1.8.

looking at the overall asthetics I think Ford got the look spot on with the sport kit, so my next step is to head towards adding the kit.  I do like the standard titanium look, however the front looks alittle too 'bling' for my liking and the rear, particularly on the single exhaust cars looks somewhat bland without the lower diffuser.

So the cheapest step and easiest to fit was a set of sport fog lights.  They were simple to fit ( once you've worked out how they are mounted ) and help improve the front end look.

Also while searching through the garage I found a ford richbrook tax disc holder, so it seemed rude not to fit it.

The engine is the 143bhp 2.0l Petrol.

The colour is called Avalon, which on the Ford charts is classifed under their Grey range.

Aha, I can see the colour better now. Have an Xperia with Bravia engine, it messes with photo colours.

Not many with that engine on here bud. Good on you for having one, it's very under-represented.

A couple of better pics of the new fogs. Time to sort out the grills and lower lips spoiler now.

Added a few small things today, first was a ford genuine boot liner which will help preserve the carpet from my mucky work equipment.

The next item was the sports grille.  Again a simple 2 minute swap and looks nice. The honeycomb effect looks better in person than in photos and hopefully will 'de-bling' the front end as I find the silver grilles a little over powering.

The plan is next week to install my pioneer double din unit -

Well today I finally had my Pioneer BT-2500 double din headunit installed.

Its so nice to have the ipod back in the car. I had the ipod lead ran to the small storage draw to the right of the steering wheel. It was just the right size for the ipod and is nicely hidden away.

I can now have my ipod music videos playing again  ( obviously when not moving  ;) )
