Yes, I've seen them with Zetec's fitted, I don't know how easy it will be to do or the cost. I do know the Mk1's need to have there chassis chopped up a little and welded up again to make it fit in there, thats the gearbox end. Plenty have done it, so the knowledge is out there, and should be pretty much the same on a Mk2 as it is on a Mk1.

Here's a Mk1 which I took some pic's of in April last year to give you a idea, sweet machine this one, it's a 2ltr, seem to think he said it was out of a Mondeo if I recall right.  :L

If you click on the pictures they should fill the screen more, give you a better look at the chassis side of things anyway.

That's an excellent series of photos of what looks like a really neat install. The one warning I'd make is to be aware that the level of neatness shown takes real effort, and you shouldn't underestimate that.

Ahh be careful folks, the later type of "Zetec" engine from a 1.6 Fez is not really a Zetec at all!!  well not the popular one sourced from the Mk1 and Mk2 Mondeo's ! This 1.6 fez Zetec is know as the Zetec SE unit,http://www.burtonpow...ning-guide.html  the true Zetec that people transplant into their Fiesta's and Mk1 Escorts ect, ect are usually the Silvertop or Blacktop engines, usually in 1.8 or 2.0 form called Zetec E' or just Zetec when talking to most people as its the default engine for tuning and is regarded as "The Zetec": http://www.burtonpow...ning-guide.html The later zetec engines from the mk5 gen fiesta is only called a zetec engine, it has 100% nothing to do with the original Zetec engines.  So to answer the ops questions, no the newer trype of Zetec (1.25,1.4 , 1.6 and 1.7) wont be as easy to fit as the Silvertop / Blacktop Zetec, also the newer zetec's are less powerful and are not at all tunable.  The Mk1 Fiesta in the picture above is fitted with a 2.0 Zetec Blacktop zetec E engine.   Ford dont help themselves sometimes by over using the Zetec name in unrelated areas!

Basically the best way to get it right is buy a 1.8 or 2.0 Zetec engine sourced from a Mondeo, either Silvertop or Blacktop fit the Mk1, Mk2 and Mk3 Fiesta like they were made for it pretty much, expect to pay around £200 - £300 for a used Zetec, you will need the loom and ecu also and jobs a good'un.   :smoking:

no a zetec se wont fit. without serious frabrication work

the zetec e unit from any fiesta, escort or mondeo, will go in no hassle. easy peasy, im currently doing this myself

£300 for a zetec engine is incredibly steep, and i wouldnt get one from a mondeo personally, chances are that it will be a black top which is more difficult to fit, go down the scrappers and get a zetec engine from a mk5 or mk6 escort. they can be had for as little as £50 and will slot right in there. only need to modify 1 mount

hmm plenty of mondeo's in the scrappers, plus you wont find the 2.0 in the escorts, silvertop's were found in all the Mk1, 4 pot petrol Mondeo's and the early Mk2 Mondeo's, plenty around, Silvertop will fit slightly easier but if he gets a Blacktop he will also need the Mk2 Mondeo's engine mount to fab to the Fiesta, minimal fabbing needed and an easy conversion.

130 spec 1800 silvertop will outrun a 2.0. there arent plenty of 2.0 silvertops around, there wasnt plenty, when they were new.

my advice would be to get a 1.8 silvertop from an escort, either in 130 spec, or up to 130 spec......or get an 1.8 silvertop from an escort and fit carbs for easy peasy power

Eh?

1.8 130 spec silvertop has less power and torque than a 2.0 silvertop, wont ourtrun it!!  trust me I know A LOT ABOUT ZETECS!!  the 2.0 has more potential too.  B)  When you replaced your 1.6 with a 1.8 130 spec I could not understand that... you should of dropped the 2.0 in there instead, however depends on how how far you want to mod the engine.

There are tons of 2.0 Silvertops around mate, always have been, they are anything but rare or hard to find.  Ebay will show up some alone.

Anyway to the OP you have lots of options with the Zetec engine.
