That's just a worthless placeholder, which has been in place for over a year now. I think Ford's understanding of the word "soon" is completely different from ours. laugh.png

Sync 2 will probably continue to receive updates for at least a couple of years, just like the maps for older generations (e.g. Mondeo Mk4) still get updated. I wouldn't worry about that.

As for the Sync 3 maps being well out of date, you can say that again. Mine are from Q4 2014, if you can believe it. 2014, for crying out loud! Sync 3 didn't even exist in 2014! mad.gif

I was just thinking about it might be the last map upgrade due to the fact that SYNC2 had a very short production life compared to what went in the Mk4 range for far more time.

The fact that an update to maps on SYNC3 is still not available is a total disgrace.

Million times better off with a Tom Tom or similar, but just does not look anywhere near as nice stuck to the screen etc

Erm, there is a sync 3 update available.

I don't know what the Kuga (17 plate) started with but it's now software version 2.2, Gracenote is 1.1.1.794 and maps are EU 4 15.

Just went to - https://www.ford.co....etooth/update#/ and put in the VIN number, downloaded the updated to a USB and installed it a couple of weeks ago.

I do prefer sync3's navigation as it updates your position a lot quicker and smoother than any TomTom I've used.

Let's see what comments come back.
I have sync2 so no interest but everywhere I look/read people don't seem to say updated maps are available.
On the FocusSTOC site there are 17 pages of discussion and no one is saying what you say (not disagreeing with you), they are getting stuff via a Russian site but it looks extremely messy/difficult

My car (early 2017) came with EU 4 14 maps. Later in 2017 they started to come with EU 4 15. But on the one hand there's no update package from 4 14 to 4 15 (I mean, you can only have 4 15 if your car happens to have come with it from the factory), and on the other hand 4 15 is almost three years old itself, so there would be no point in making that update even if it were available.

Sync 3 software updates are indeed available via Ford's official website. But these cover just the firmware, not the maps. The latest firmware version is V3.0 build 18025, Gracenote 1.1.1.1127.

There's also a leaked pre-production version of the F7 maps, which can be downloaded from various internet forums. But I'm not interested in illicit stuff from Russian hackers. I want a clean, official update.

So there you have it MarkM. Sync3 will not give you maps as late as what is available for sync2, which has a SD card

Hi

It reads on Ford site that Sync 3 owners should be supplying update info to them: https://www.ford.co....navigation-help

I registered and sent an update - a newly constructed road. The ticket was closed two days later with the following resolution:

Unfortunately, the Map Feedback you provided on 08/20/2018 (Road Add) cannot be integrated because:

Database reflects reality - According to our sources, we have found our database to be correct , the requested change will not be included.

So, the maps supplier already has an up to date version. It's Ford who won't give it to us. I used to feel sorry for Ford, thinking they might have been let down by an incompetent supplier. But it seems Ford is actually the real culprit.
