NIce to see some progress from my original post...
Best thing about this Forum is that an idea can be posted and progressed by collective thinking and people who know a little more than me about building electronic gizmo's!
I'm sold on the idea, so when you get around to building & selling, please let me know

Hi guys,
Like all the people here i´m very interested in this project, I would like to thank you for the efforts that makes.
I found this solution, but it is to expensive "http://www.novosonic...pdf/IC-9017.pdf" you can find it on www.novosonic.es ( 350 € cost + shipping).
So any scheme or diagram to wiring cables directly would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your time
Cheers,

Hi everyone
I also want to put a camera to my denso head unit, so i started to search a bit. I wanted to search the LCD service manual, but not found the correct one, but i found 2 almost similar with the same pinouts. The manual describes that the lcd driver board have the rgbs (what the nav dvd use) and a composite input signal
As i guess, to get this working we need to hack the FPC Cable between the head unit and the lcd screen.
Not removed the HU out yet, i'm waiting for the removal keys, but if somebody got it and wan't to try i attached the service manuals.
The needed pins are:
" 1 VIDEO Composite Video Input (1.0Vp-p 75Ω) Input "
" 17 N/P NTSC/PAL Selection Switch (0V:NTSC , 5V:PAL) Input"
" 16 SSW Sync. Signal Selection Switch (0V:Composite Video , 5V:RGB)"
And one of the ground pins.
So if we would "cut" the 16 pin somehow with a relay controlled from the reverse light signal and would insert the composite video signal. Any guess, can it be get to work?

There are still some blind spots, i need to remove the screen to see what can i do with the flex cable(size & shape), i haven't got picture of it, and maybe as i see we need to put 5V to pin 20 if the camera would show the screen in reverse direction.
Another question is which kind of camera, i would put in a camera with the tailgate microswitch but that is for only just the Focus, and the mondy got a fix piece (which maybe planned to put a camera in there?!), so the final solution will be the reverse plate lighting type i guess, but without a camera still could be try with a dvd player.
