My MK3 mondeo (2004 LX) recently has no clicking/ticking sound when the indicators are turned on.The indicators are working and the sound was working up till a month ago but not now.Is it something in the indicator stalk that makes the noise or is there a speaker or relay somewhere.
Thanks
Thanks

click here: http://www.talkford....cal-mk3-mondeo/ and enter indicators not working in the search box on the page that loads, then click search, there's a fair few posts on inoperative indicators
No relays, apparently its built into the GEM

I have the same problem on my 2007 model. as you will see I'm listed under the electrical section, so far I have had 102 read my question but no replies. Have you made any progress. My fault is intermittent but mainly no sound. On your I have read that the flasher unit plugs into the switch unit. You need to remove the switch unit first which is fairly straight forward.

Hi got a friend of mine to plug his laptop with diagnostic software to my car and on the GEM we are getting a code B1875 - turn signal/hazard switch signal circuit failure. Also when we checked the chine it is set to off.
Not sure is this telling me that the indicator stalk is faulty or the gem module faulty.
The indicators actually come on its just the chime dosent work any more

Quote from link above
"The sound generator for the acoustic turn signal check is integrated in the multifunction switch."
So I would swap out the indicator switch as a first option even though it's still working the indicators at present.

Sound Deffo' comes from the switch itself.
Following is from workshop manual.
""Control functions
The following functions will be monitored by the GEM.
Interior lighting
The interior lighting will be switched on if:
one of the vehicle doors is opened and the ignition switch is in the OFF or ACC position
the ignition switch is moved from the ON or START to the ACC or OFF position
the vehicle is unlocked using the radio remote control
The lighting extinguishes
25 seconds after all doors are closed, but the vehicle is not locked
if the vehicle is locked
if the ignition switch is moved from the OFF or ACC to the ON or START position
The lighting is extinguished by gradual dimming over a period of 1.7 seconds.
Interior lighting consists of front and rear dome lamps and position lamps in the door inner trim.
Turn signals / hazard warning lamps
When the turn signal lever is actuated, the turn signal lamps on the corresponding side of the vehicle are activated at a frequency of 1.3 Hz (80 times per minute).
At the same time, a clicking noise is generated by the steering column switch and the turn signal warning lamp is activated.
If one of the turn signal lamps is defective, the flashing frequency is doubled, except in hazard warning mode.""
