I've got a trip computer that I've replaced my standard clock with, but I need the sensor for the outside temperature... all I've heard is that it fits in the bumper infront of the engine.. but can anyone give me a better idea as to where and how I can access the socket for it?

there is a cut out in the metal front panel, one on each side of the grill, but lower down.

you may be able to access it from underneath, but I think it is usually a bumper off job.

lots of people just tie the sensor up underneath the wheel arch liner and leave it there

The bumper needs to come off to fit the sensor in the correct place, as said above just mount it somewhere outside the engine bay and out of any airflow such as inside the wheelarch liner or tucked up behind the front bumper.

Can any provide a photo of the socket it connects into and a rough idea of where abouts behind the bumper it is?

Im currently having a stab now... But still cannot see where this plugs into. How is this possible without taking the bumper off? I've removed the front grille and nothing onthe front metal plate seems to be a connector... Just metal. Is it behind the bumper?

Nothing can be seen from underneath as there is a cover stopping water and such going up.

Please help guys, if it's so easy!

Okay, so after having a look... I managed to find a socket where the sensor fitted... just infront of the engine, but it was slightly confusing, as everyone's said it should be outside the engine bay.. but the socket was so near to it, and the cabling from the socket to the sensor was so short... there's no way it can be outside of it.

Anyway, after slotting it inside, i checked the trip computer, and it still showed no temperature. I took it for a drive for about 30 minutes, and at no point did a temperature show up.

See photos to see if I've plugged it in the right place.

Are you expecting to find the wiring plug and wiring for your exterior temperature sensor already installed on your car? It won't be there, you will need to run the wires in from the trip to the sensor, have you had a read of this?

So what's the socket for that I found in the engine bay that the sensor is currently plugged into?
