I'm glad you managed to get the Beckerman one, 'cos everytime I clicked on the ebay link it said 'not found' which I didn't understand 'cos that's the same site I bought mine from.

Yeah so glad you posted up part numbers,, think it was more luck than good judgement that I choose the same seller to buy the smooth one from,, was Β£14 odd but coz I had it on my watch list they sent me an offer of Β£13 so I bought it ππ,,, just gunna buy that ribbed one then wait till BOZO and his motley crew decided itβs ok to mingle with the outside world again ππ.
Thanks for the help and advice mate really canβt thank you enough

Just did mine (115k) as the noise was doing my fruit in. I used the tools as per the Ford thingies as I am too old to struggle and thougt I would share this with people doing it single handedly...
Just a cheap tie down ratchet strap, under the cill about half way under the driver door is an ideal hole for the hook and I pushed the tensioner tool back by hand to mark the subframe so I knew how far to ratchet as even cheap ratchets have quite a force on them. I then dropped a chisel between the business end of the tensioner tool and the metalwork of the wheel arch to stop the tool popping out as I put the belt on (wrong route around pulleys first time lol).

Oh, at 114K, the crankshaft pulley itself seemed in really good condition but I was changing it anyway, the alternator/generator pulley is better than I thought it would be so wont touch that (amazed the alternator works as I had to take it off three times, first for job, second as belt wrong way and I can't remember why the third time) - I did discover the aircon pulley has dry bearings but need to do that next week. The belt tensioner was shot though, not sure what length the belt should be but it was 1635mm when it came off.

Hi
Not sure belts stretch that much, I think they just break or fall apart.

Looking at generic ones online for this motor they are meant to be 1640mm so it has shrunk a little which I guess makes sense as rubber does - I thought being a belt under tension it would have stretched but the tensioner was shot anyway. The belt has small cracks all over the ridges but certainly not the worse I have taken off one of my cars. I am so happy at how smooth and quiet the car is now though.

Keep the crankshaft pulley if it's original-probably got loads more life in it. If you replaced it with a pattern part, they don't often last as long as oem ones.

I've been put off buying Gates, as they source some of their stuff from China! There's, a guy on youtube who bought a Gates timing kit, and all the pulleys were made in China. He wasn't happy!
Hope this isn't thread creep....Arghh! I think it is!
