Got a MK2 and had no washer water coming out of the jets, so, did the whole "take out the wash container and filter and washed it" (took about 2 hours and its freezing outside!),only to find it still didn't work. However, I noticed the black elbow tube was all gunked up as well so cleaned this too, now the washer streams jets of water right over the car and I need to move the holes with a pin. Have to wait til tomorrow, its getting dark!
Many thanx to all for your detailed help on here.

another thing that happened to me recently was that i lost power, even though i know the lines and filter were clear.
so i went to route out the problem.
turns out it was the length of black pipe between washer jets, attached onto the underside of the bonnet - it had a very long hairline crack that was jetting water out all over the back of my engine.
all i could think of was that the water froze and expanded.
be careful at the scrappie, these pipes are brittle as.

I did a little youtube for this one a while back. No ramps needed just 30/40 mins of your time to fix. Simples. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=HRfc-u5INxY
