Is it possible to somehow read codes from Fiesta Mk3 EEC IV engine management module? Specifically from 1.1L CFI (central fuel injection) one from 1992. Do you need some special tool or can you just use a multimeter?
There are no connectors. It seems that I need to somehow probe the loom to get codes but I can't find a guide how to do that.
Car didn't pass emissions test. Too many unburnt fuel particles meaning that fuel mix is too rich. I want to know why it's doing that. It's most likely some sensor fault.
If you can find one, the Gunson 77032 code reader will work, it shows code numbers instead of an earlier reader that I have where you have to count a flashing light to get a code.
If the fiesta is similar to my old Sierra then the diagnostic plug is in the engine bay (from memory) and should be a triangular 3 pin socket, probably black in colour.
As it's a CFI then at a guess it could be the O2 sensor.
