Mileage, reliability and future costs

Hi,

I had my 2011 2.0 (petrol) Titanium X smashed in a motorway crash just a few days ago and it looks like it'll be written-off by Insurance, so I'm looking at what I might be able to get to replace it. Ideally the same spec.

Are there any greater probability of mechanical issues with a vehicle with 83k miles than there is for one of 55k? Are there known component replacements needed at higher mileage service points?

Obviously there's a price dif between the higher and the lower but I don't want to be buying myself some significant future cost with the lower-priced higher mileage vehicle. Does the transmission make a difference?- the lower mileage one is manual whilst the higher is semi.

Anything else I should be aware of?

Modern petrol cars should do 200k miles these days if properly serviced.

i do a fairly low mileage and buy high mileage cars, not bought anything with less than

100k miles for many years.

MK3 petrol Mondeo had 150k miles on it when I sold it and it didnt use a drop of oil. Still taxed and

MOT'd about 5 years later with around 200k on the clock.

Then I had a MK3 diesel which i took upto 174k miles, sister had that and stuck 60k on it in 2 years

before selling it.

Then the MK3 2.2 which I had around 150k and my nephew has that now.

Current car is a MK4.5 2L diesel with 170k on the clock, bought late 2018 and all its needed was a

battery that i replaced as a precaution and one headlamp bulb.
