Hey guys, I hope you're all having a great Easter weekend...
The last few weeks I have noticed the car idling a little rough, albeit very intermitantly, (perhaps even missing) for a few seconds after starting. I put it down to needing a service, that I intend to do myself providing I can get reasonably priced parts considering I live in NZ. Repco, a local motor parts and accessories store (similar to Halfords) quoted me around $800 for plugs, leads, air, cabin, oil and fuel filters, plus the oil. That's about £400, which is like WTF! I have decided to get a service kit from Fleabay for a quater of the price I was quoted, which includes Fram filters and NGK plugs (no leads or oil though).
Since then I have discovered a perished breather hose and the question I have is would a buggered breather hose cause the car to idle rough for a few seconds after starting, especially when load is put on the engine, such as the Air Con being switched on, or being put in to gear? I have been unable to identify the hose, and I would appreciate if someone could offer some advice looking at the pictures below...
As viewed from the battery side...
Looking over the back of the engine, I see the hose joint/coupling has completely perished. I'm guessing the perished coupling part is separate from the breather hose itself and can be replaced independently?
